Exhale #19: A prayer to my baby’s mama
I have two quick updates for you today:
The next Soul Searching Adventure is August 23-29 in the Wind Rivers Mountain Range in Wyoming. This is one of the most remote locations in the country, and it’s frickin gorgeous! I have 7 spots left out of 10.
If you identify as a man and this sounds interesting to you here’s some more info:
This trip will…
Be one of the most manly man things you’ve ever done
Possibly be one of the most emotionally challenging things you’ve ever done
Help you discover new and/or deeper parts of yourself
Make you laugh so hard you cry
Help you survive a zombie apocalypse
We will hike, write, share, sing, start fires, and tell stories.
There will be bears, meese (multiple mooses), deer, and wildflowers. A ridiculous amount of wildflowers.
I just released a new podcast episode with one of my closest friends Andrew Drish on Soulful Living, Mentorship and The Art of Love.
And because I have a lot on my plate this week I wrote a short prayer.
“Unconditional”
Partnership. It’s…
Discovering new parts of myself
Exceeding what I thought was my fullest potential
Trying to understand before expecting to be understood
Flirting and courting
Adventure
Generously giving
It can be pure ecstacy and rapture
Working as a team
Letting go of keeping score
Forgiving
Nurturing
Collaborating
and of course…
Fighting
Tension
Bickering
Miscommunication or lack thereof
Spitefulness
Competitiveness
Selfishness
Taking for granted
May I stay open to the entire experience.
Letting go of labeling things as good or bad.
Always assuming the best of intentions and laying down my sword.
Letting go of the need to be “right” in surrender of getting back to love.
It’s easy to be thoughtful when you know she’s thinking of you.
To be generous when she just did some random act of service.
Accountable when she apologizes first.
It takes a courageous and committed partner to go first. To be thoughtful and generous and accountable with no guarantee of the same in return.
To love unconditionally.
Like jumping into the dark waters of vulnerability.
Trusting that what lies beneath is better than anything I could imagine in my wildest dreams.
To my baby’s mama,
-Michael
